Who invented KID'S DAY?

Wow, after a hot day at school a nice rain to cool us off is always refreshing. I love the evenings when it the rain comes pouring down and the streets are flooded. This week of teaching has gone much better, but there are still many classroom management issues to work on. I hope and pray the days will soon run smoothly where teaching can happen. I really enjoy my students and like getting to know them better and better everyday.  Today is a busy day in Honduras. All the children of Honduras are celebrating kids day. Therefore, the kids can do whatever they want. So, today at school the kids did not have to wear their uniforms (the one day out of the whole school year). The kids did not have to do any school work. And the kids could eat cake, candy, and junk food all day. Now, why don't they have a day like this for teachers too. So, last night, my assistant Mrs. Delmy went out to the grocery stores to get candy and cake for all the students. We enjoyed spending time shopping together and communicate together as best as possible (often time getting confused because my Spanish is not good). But, we did our best and got the good for the students.

Here is my class. We always line up in boy and girls lines before going anywhere. We try our best to stay in a straight line with our hands to ourselves...but it does not always happen :). We are working on it!

 Here are some of my students. For kid's day the highschooler put on skits the students to kick of kid's day.

Today, we were required to stay after school for an extra two hours after most of the students left. So, we decided to spend those two hours running off our cake playing soccer verse some of the students who stayed at school.

Well, not too much more has been happening here. The water has been going out about every night for an hour or two, so it is hit or miss if you can brush your teeth and wash your face.

Oh, the lady in the red in the picture above is a teacher in Kinder-5. Her and her husband are missionaries in Gracias. They have kindly have all of us teachers over every Wednesday to eat some good home-cooked Honduran food (made by their 'maid') and then sit down and have Bible study together after we eat. We plan on going through the book of Philippians throughout the school year.
